1. Who We Are
Inclusive Applications is a UK-based developer of simple, accessible mobile applications. We believe technology should make everyday life easier for everyone — regardless of age, ability, or technical confidence.
This privacy policy applies to all apps published by Inclusive Applications, including Shore Check and Train Check. It explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under UK GDPR.
Inclusive Applications is the Data Controller for all personal data collected through our apps and website. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us here https://www.inclusiveapplications.com/contact.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to provide our services. We do not collect data beyond what is described here.
2.1 Location Data
If you grant permission, we use your device's GPS coordinates solely to identify the nearest relevant data point for the app you are using — for example, the nearest tide station in Shore Check, or the nearest train station in Train Check.
Location data is approximate — we do not require or store your precise location
Location data is used in real-time only and is not stored on our servers after your session ends
Location permission is entirely optional — you can use all core features by searching manually
You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings
2.2 Search Queries
When you search for a location by name, that search term is passed to our third-party data provider to retrieve relevant results. Search queries are not linked to your identity and are not stored by us.
2.3 Data We Do Not Collect
We want to be explicit about what we do not collect:
No name, email address, or contact information
No account or login credentials — our apps do not require accounts
No payment information — all purchases are handled entirely by Apple or Google
No usage analytics or behavioural tracking
No advertising identifiers
No cookies or persistent identifiers
No health, financial, or sensitive personal data
3. Lawful Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)
Under UK GDPR, we must have a lawful basis for processing personal data.
Approximate Location — Lawful basis: Legitimate Interests / Consent. Used solely to provide the core app feature. You explicitly grant permission via your device OS prompt.
Search Queries — Lawful basis: Legitimate Interests. Necessary to retrieve results from our data providers. Not stored or linked to identity.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use the limited data we collect solely to provide the core functionality of our apps:
To find the nearest tide station, train station, or other relevant data point based on your location
To retrieve results from our data providers based on your search query
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond delivering the app service
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes
5. Third-Party Services
Our apps use the following third-party data providers to deliver their core functionality. Your search query or approximate location coordinates may be sent to these services solely to retrieve relevant data:
Shore Check — UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) Admiralty Tidal API. Data sent: approximate location or location name. Purpose: retrieve tide times for nearest station.
Train Check — National Rail / Transport Data Provider. Data sent: approximate location or station name. Purpose: retrieve train times for nearest station.
All Apps — Apple App Store / Google Play. Data sent: payment data (paid apps only). Purpose: handle all billing. We never see your payment details.
All data sent to third-party providers is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. We do not control these providers' own privacy practices. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for further information.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for the minimum period necessary:
Approximate location data — not retained beyond the current app session. Discarded immediately after use
Search queries — passed to our data provider in real-time and not stored by us
No personal data is held on our servers. There is nothing to delete
App stores (Apple / Google) may retain purchase records in accordance with their own privacy policies
7. Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously, even though we collect very little of it:
All data transmitted between your device and our data providers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
We do not operate servers that store personal data, minimising security risk
Our apps do not require user accounts, eliminating the risk of credential theft
No payment data passes through our systems — all billing is handled by Apple or Google
8. Your Rights Under UK GDPR
As a UK resident, you have the following rights regarding your personal data. Because we collect very little personal data and retain none of it beyond your session, most of these rights are satisfied by our privacy-first design. However they remain available to you:
Right to Access — You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you. Because we retain no personal data after your session, there is typically nothing to provide.
Right to Erasure — You can request deletion of your personal data. As we retain no personal data, this right is satisfied by our design.
Right to Rectification — You can request correction of inaccurate personal data. We hold no stored personal data to correct.
Right to Restriction — You can request we restrict processing of your data. You can achieve this at any time by denying location permission in your device settings.
Right to Object — You can object to processing of your data. You can opt out of location processing at any time by denying permission or searching manually.
Right to Data Portability — You can request your data in a portable format. As we retain no personal data, there is nothing to port.
Right to Withdraw Consent — Where processing is based on consent (location), you can withdraw consent at any time via your device settings.
Right to Lodge a Complaint — You have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
To exercise any of your rights, contact us at https://www.inclusiveapplications.com/contact. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Children's Privacy
Our apps are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at https://www.inclusiveapplications.com/contact and we will take immediate steps to address this.
10. Local Storage & App Data
Our apps may store your preferences — such as saved favourite locations — locally on your device using your device's own storage. This data:
Never leaves your device
Is not accessible to us
Can be deleted at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing app data in your device settings
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our apps, services, or legal requirements. When we make significant changes we will:
Update the 'Last updated' date at the top of this policy
Where appropriate, notify users via an in-app notice
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of our apps after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
